OrangeHRM Installation

First, Ensure that your system is running the latest stable version. You should restart your system after the update and use sudo to log in. OrangeHRM requires Apache as its web server.

In OrangeHRM, PHP versions higher than 5.5.0 are supported. You can then install the MariaDB server after the installation has been completed. MariaDB/MySQL is used to store data in OrangeHRM. When MariaDB is installed, enable MariaDB to start automatically.

Extraction of the downloaded archive should be performed by the following command after downloading. The next step is to create an OrangeHRM virtual host.

There is a port 80 on which OrangeHRM runs. This means that you have to allow it through the UFW firewall. Your system is by default configured to disable UFW, so you will have to enable it.

Install LAMP(apache, mariadb, php5.6)


# apt install php5.6

Set permisssion

Then we need to create a virtual host for accessing an OrangeHRM application.

For ubuntu:

After creating the virtual host we need to restart the httpd service to make the changes effect.

Then you can proceed the further installation from the browser by navigating to the following URL of http://local IP (or) domain name.

Now you will see Welcome page of OrangeHRM application. Click next to start the installation.

Then, accept the license agreement of OrangeHRM application to continue the installation.

And then you must configure database configuration. once done click Next.

At next screen verify the server configuration environment. once done click next to continue.

After that, you have to configure the Admin user credential

Once configuration, confirm the installation and click on Next.

After the successful login, you will see the following page, orangeHRM admin dashboard.
